“It was all a dream”

A dream start for Juicy under Jason Hart last Friday evening at Southwell in the 5 furlong maiden was the highlight of last week. After making all to win by 4 lengths and pulling away in a fast time she definitely caught the eye and we’ll probably look to try and follow up in a Novice next month before heading back to Southwell for the Listed Hever sprint in February. Having bought her as a foal we’ve had to be patient but she looks like the wait will have been worthwhile.

Our trip to Southwell was further enhanced when a super bit of placing by Richard Spencer saw home bred Back Tomorrow land a 102/1 double when winning the Amateur Jockeys handicap under a confident ride from Simon Walker. Completing not only a double for the team but also for our underrated stallion Rajasinghe who stands next season once again at The National Stud in Newmarket.

On the same card Ivory Madonna ran on well to finish third after a slow start, our old lead horse Champagne Supanova found the extra furlong a bit too far whilst Cross the Tracks had an off day.

Earlier in the week Aidan Andabettin ran a nice fourth on debut at Chelmsford whilst Keyser’s race on the same card wasn’t run to suit … perhaps retirement will be put off for another month?

Off the track we welcomed the older horses back into their newly refurbished home, they will soon be joined by their younger colleagues who continue to catch the eye at Vicarage Farm.

As part of our revised strategy for next season Sefton Lodge will focus solely on the flat. Our remaining jump horses have been relocated to Peter Bowen’s and we are delighted to welcome Peter to the team.

All in all a great end to our year and hopefully a few quid for Christmas for our supporters.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and here’s to 2024 being our best season yet.
