“Merci Olivier”

No runners last week from Sefton Lodge but a trip to Lingfield on Wednesday for the barrier trials was enough to keep us excited and some dreams alive. We took a few of our next wave of two year olds for an away day and all being well we will see them on track in a couple of weeks time.

Elsewhere we had an interest in a couple of runners with George Boughey, Composite ran a nice race debuting on flat turf following a break – he will definitely have come on for this. Our other runner was two year old Foro Romano who went one better than his debut third to finish second under Champion William Buick.

We caught up with Jane and William on Friday at Sandown having been invited to the Nordoff & Robbins Charity Raceday – where they are Patrons. A fantastic day out and probably the best attended charity race day we’ve ever been to, hat’s off to the two of them, Emma Banks and Chris Wright – we were only too delighted to support.

This week we start at Southwell on Monday with another debutant two year old ‘The Man’ – a lovely Mehmas colt, let’s hope he can have a nice introduction.

On Wednesday we move to Ascot for trials day where Sex on Fire heads for probably the hottest two year old race of the season to date, with many first time out winners putting their unbeaten records on the line. Juicy also holds an entry.

On Saturday we head to HQ for 2000 Guineas Day – whilst no runner in the big one Run Boy Run, Pjanoo and Two Tribes all hold entries on the undercard. This will always be a special day for me where this incredible journey took on another trajectory!

And coincidentally one of the key players that made it all possible announced his retirement from the saddle this week, what more can I say to the coolest jockey of all time other than ‘Merci Olivier’.
