“Eight Weeks Till the Flat”

Just the two runners sent out from Sefton Lodge this week resulting in a brace of fourth placings.

First up was Cross the Tracks at Kempton, who after being given a fantastic ride by Rob Hornby from a stinking draw of 10 from 11 was robbed of second place after being severely hampered in the last 100 yards – probably best I don’t comment any further on this!

Give it Up then headed to Southwell and tried to do it the hard way making all under Jason Hart. Up in trip and back in maiden company he ran credibly whilst still supporting our analysis of being quite harshly treated by the handicapper off the back of his second place to Eben Shaddad. We’ll step him up in trip again and have another crack in the next couple of weeks.

This week we start with Back Tomorrow returning to the scene of her last course and distance victory at Southwell, albeit this time we are no longer in Amateur company with Jason Hart in the saddle. It will be Richard’s last runner of the month and a victory would see us close out with a 20% strike rate.

Juicy, then holds an entry at Chelmsford on Thursday coincidentally in a race sponsored by us for Dad’s birthday (another winning charity night bid!) but will also be entered at Newcastle in a boosted prize money race on Sunday. The aforementioned aside she will run where Richard feels she has the best chance of victory.

On Saturday Wonderwall (Peter Bowen) heads to Sandown for the Premier Handicap Hurdle, a race previously won by Peter with Lord Napier, desperately unlucky when brought down last time out he surely is capable of a victory in a race of this grade. Then it’s straight onto Kempton for Aidan Andabettin’s bid to back up his recent course and distance maiden victory, a race which saw Tommy the Gun (George Boughey) debut who heads to Lingfield on Friday for his second start.

Elsewhere the two year olds continue to progress and it will not be long until the grass gallops are open at Warren Hill . . . . who knows maybe we will have our first Brocklesby runner!
