“Happy Christmas Aidan”

A great night at Kempton last Wednesday when a Christmas ‘23 present for my son Aidan delivered an opening victory for the team at Sefton Lodge for the 2024 campaign. Defying a difficult draw he was soon pushed to the front under a perfect ride from Danny Muscutt on only his second start.

Huge thanks to Richard Spencer and the team who have remained patient and nursed this horse through a couple of minor issues – it’s night’s like these that remind me why we are in the game!

Earlier on the same card Back Tomorrow put in another pleasing performance finding just one too good and narrowly missing out on a double for the evening.

Our other two runners of the week were at Chelmsford on Sunday evening, both were in competitive races and both had shocking draws. Sweet Harmony was rather disappointing and the old boy Keyser Soze was customarily slow away but failed to pick up in his usual manner. It was one last roll of the dice for the 10 year old and we’ve now taken the decision to retire him – what a horse he has been for us!

This week Cross the Tracks heads to Kempton on Monday, Give It Up to Southwell on Tuesday and Back Tomorrow also at Southwell on Thursday. Fingers crossed there’s a winner amongst them.
