“What happens next?”

Last week saw us draw a blank on the winner front with only a couple of second places from our eight runners to cheer about.

The second of which was The City’s Phantom in The Jockey Club Challenge Whip which left myself and the majority of the crowd speechless. Having travelled strongly throughout the race the only threat to The Phantom at the furlong marker looked our other runner Pjanoo until Jane Chapple-Hyam’s horse sprouted wings to get up to win by half a length. Absolutely gutted but delighted for Jane, we will have to wait another twelve months to participate in this historical race again.

Our other second earlier in the week was an even closer affair with Belo Horizonte going down by a neck and missing out on the five timer. Having broken slowly he was eating up the ground at the finish and must go down as an unlucky loser.

This week we start off over jumps on Tuesday with Roll With It at Southwell.

Thursday we head to Lingfield with Run Boy Run and then onto Bodygroove at Salisbury, before heading back to Newmarket on Saturday with Shallow in the Tattersalls October Auction Stakes with entries at the same fixture for both Sweet Harmony and Ivory Madonna. Maharajas Express also has an entry at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
