Wow! What a week, from meeting the King and Queen at The National Stud on Tuesday morning, watching Oasis at Wembley on Friday evening to landing our first Heritage Handicap at Ascot on Saturday with Two Tribes.
A most memorable morning was spent at the very kind invitation of The National Stud in Newmarket on Tuesday morning for the stallion parade to His Majesty The King. A very rare and magnificent opportunity for which I will be eternally grateful.
Capped off on Saturday with the previously ‘unlucky’ Two Tribes finally landing ‘a big one’ that we all knew he was capable of. The most magnificent of rides from David Egan to get up and hold on by a neck from the impressive Classic, owned by the lovely Julie Woods. Never have I experienced such kindness from the second-placed owner which is even more remarkable that Julie raced and then gifted Two Tribes’ dam, Warsash to his breeder Carla Bowers of Charlock Stud. Carla, Graham and their family and have been present at virtually all of his races and I am as delighted for them as I am for myself that he finally pulled it off.
This week will be dominated by Glorious Goodwood – a fantastic meeting that we have previously been fortunate at with Rumble Inthejungle winning The Molecomb back in 2018. Our first runner at the fixture this time will be Shallow on Tuesday in the 6 furlong fillies’ handicap. Victorious at Newmarket last time out, George Wood will once again take the ride.
We head back on Thursday with The Man in the 5 furlong handicap. I’ve gone on record as saying this is the fastest horse I have ever owned – a statement by which I stand as he looks to maintain his 100% seasonal record this week, David Egan retains the ride.
Finally on Saturday Yah Mo Be There heads for the 7 furlong handicap, despite at this stage being unaware of the competition, I feel he is our best chance of the week under Jamie Spencer. We currently have three still in the Stewards Cup, Two Tribes (unlikely), Twilight Calls and Run Boy Run – jockey plans are currently unconfirmed although George will have first pick and carry our first colours.
Outside of Goodwood we start the week on Monday at Yarmouth with Sprinter (David Egan) although we will be at Windsor for the return of the Space Cowboy (Rob Hornby).
Sex On Fire and Mwaki hold entries at Sandown on Wednesday, along with Alive Again at Yarmouth.
We’ll be squeezing in a Newmarket Friday Night with Waiting All Night (Neil Callan) and a bit of Tom Jones !
….. and for those asking we’ve had FIVE Oasis named horses, Rock n Roll Star, Champagne Supanova, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Roll With It and of course Wonderwall!
