Performance of the week has to be Speed of Sound in the fillies handicap providing us with another festival winner at the Leger meeting. A magnificent front running ride by Saffie Osborne made every yard a winning one, victorious in dominant style. We’ll see how she comes out of the race but current plans may be to supplement for The Rockfel Stakes in a couple of weeks’ time.
With some other notable performances our prize money tally has now exceeded last year’s record haul … before we have even completed Q3! A fantastic effort by the team as we are on track this year to exceed all three of our KPIs.
This week we start today at Windsor with Enter Sandman (George Wood) in the 5 furlong handicap. It’s the flat season finale at Windsor and victory could see us finish as clear winning owner at the track where we are currently tied with Godolphin at four apiece.
On Tuesday we head to Yarmouth, first up is another 2 year old debutant Bad Dreams in the 6 furlong novice stakes. On the same card Gold Digger returns to the site of her debut victory this time over the same distance in the fillies handicap, classic winning jockey Saffie Osborne rides both.
What a day it was for Saffie on Saturday, a magnificent ride breaking all sorts of records, those that have worked closely with her knew it was thoroughly deserved only a matter of time ….. and will be the first of many.
On Thursday we head to Ayr for the Western Festival. Aiming to defend our Gold and Silver Cups from last year I feel we will be taking a stronger team. At the time of writing running plans remain fluid and qualification for each of the cups are unclear but will unfold as the week progresses.
On Thursday, Cuff It could run in the 1m2f handicap, Atmosphere and You Sexy Thing in the 1m handicap and Ice Cube in the 7 furlong handicap.
On Friday – Motown Filly is entered in the fillies nursery, Baddaddan in the nursery and Zigazig Ah in the 5 furlong listed race. the Bronze Cup could see RightHere RightNow , Born Slippy, Kimbara, Rappers Delight. Ice cube is also entered in the 1m handicap.
Finally on Saturday – those mentioned above in the Bronze Cup are joined by Run Boy Run, Twilight Calls, Two Tribes and Candy in either the Gold and Silver Cups. In addition Hawksbill, Sexy Chick and Starburster could also making the journey across the border.
Outside of the main meeting Wopbopaloomop could go to Southwell on Thursday, Motown Filly to Yarmouth and Start me Up back to Chester on Saturday.
