We started with a win at Redcar last Monday, then followed up at Lingfield on a Tuesday, and then again Kempton on Thursday …
Wild Thoughts’ latest form figures read like some Craig David lyrics! An amazing feat to win three times in ten days, which i believe is a first for us, and what a fantastic training performance in both preparation and placement. His final victory at Kempton last Thursday was just one a few highlights that could have grabbed the headlines that week. His emphatic victory on Tuesday at Lingfield landed a memorable double at the track following Enter Sandman’s equally impressive win. This was the same two horses, with the same two jockeys (Saffie Osborne and George Wood) which landed the double last week … the Double Double , another training performance first for Richard I believe!
These victories (all in the last 2 weeks of the month) , meant we completed April with a circa 40% strike rate which, as predicted, was when we felt our UK season was to commence in earnest.
This week we hope to run our second of the 2 year olds at Southwell on Thursday. ‘DreamLover’ by Cotai Glory bids to emulate his half-brother The Man by winning first time out at Southwell. Enter Sandman then bids for his hat-trick at Wolverhampton on Friday with Jack Callan claiming a useful 3 pounds.
Off track we made an unexpected but exciting purchase at the Tattersalls Breeze Up sale , partnering with Tim Gredley to secure the top lot, a 2 year old colt by Minzaal. We can’t wait to see the famous yellow and black silks bringing a splash of colour to our tack room’s black, white and grey hanging rail.
Over in Australia, The Next Episode secured his first Black Type victory when dominating the Listed Dalrello Stakes. Exciting doesn’t do the emotions felt around this colt’s prospects justice. Next stop could be the $1 million Magic Millions 2 year old classic at the end of the month ….. If you haven’t seen last Saturday’s Eagle Farm victory, it’s worth a watch.
