That one was for you PC”

We’ve been a bit quiet on here for a couple of weeks following the unexpected passing of my Dad “PC” during our flight home from Dubai on the 8th February. I can think of no more fitting way to break the temporary silence than another winner at the Dubai Carnival and cannot thank Richard, George and all at Team Rebel for making it happen and dedicating this victory to his memory … and of course the biggest thanks to Run Boy Run, pulled back to 5 furlongs under a strong George Wood drive to hold on impressively carrying top weight in a typical gutsy performance.

Dad was the reason I got into racing and was instrumental in formulating the ‘blueprint’ that we put into place a couple of years ago that we are now reaping the benefits from. Always forthright in his opinion, whether you asked for it or not, he came to the conclusion that we needed “stop fkn about and do this properly or pack up” and I take great comfort in that he witnessed our best season to date last year with some huge winners and we will of course try to continue to improve on the foundations we now have in place. If not at the track in person he was always the first phone call to Aidan, Richard and I following each run – good or bad, and I don’t think any winner will ever quite be the same again!

On behalf of the family, thank you to all for the wonderful messages , they really do mean a lot – I have tried to reply to them all. Dad’s funeral will be held at Our Lady Immaculate Church, New London Road, Chelmsford at 1pm on Friday 20th March.

This week we head back to Meydan for the fantastic card that is Super Saturday with Two Tribes and Run Boy Run in the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Sprint and Nightwalker in the Group 2 Dubai City of Gold.

In the UK Saddle Up and Tainted Love continue to learn their trade both having their second starts at Southwell tomorrow evening whilst Romeo Montague could head to Lingfield on Friday.
