Wow – what a turnout for PC’s funeral, we were totally blown away by the number of people that attended Dad’s service last Friday, sent messages and floral tributes. The whole event couldn’t have gone any better and I know he would have been so chuffed by the level of support – it really is appreciated. With the flat season kicking off on Saturday it will be our first without him and I hope we can improve upon last year’s record year and do him proud.
We had just the one runner last week with Atmosphere running a cracker to go down by a length to finish second from an impossible draw 13 of 13, under a super ride from George Wood.
This week is all about the Dubai World Cup on Saturday – with Run Boy Run having made the cut for the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint. Our target at the start of the project was to have one carnival winner and a runner on World Cup Night, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be this lad. He continues to go from strength to strength and could once again be flying under the radar. He along with regular rider Rosie Hill are our sole remaining members of the team based in Dubai with the others including all 9 horses safely back home in Newmarket as of last Friday.
Back in the UK we start the week off at Lingfield on Wednesday with Saddle Up (George Wood) and Tainted Love (Rab Havlin).
On Thursday Enter Sandman, Start Me Up and Romeo Montague hold entries at Southwell.
Twilight Calls and Teardrops head to Newcastle on Friday under Jack Callan.
Sisyphean heads to Kempton on Saturday, whilst Start Me Up, Big Poppa and Kimbara hold entries at Southwell.
Finally, our turf season could get underway at Doncaster on Sunday with Big Poppa and Kimbara.
