Star of the week must go to Waiting All Night who landed his second victory within two weeks in the Class 2 handicap over a mile at the Newmarket July course on Friday. The tough home bred son of Rajasinghe ran out a comfortable winner under a strong ride from Neil Callan and has certainly shown an aptitude for the track with form figures of 24121 at the venue in the past 7 weeks!
Having shown strong form as a 2-year-old I think we’re starting to see a pattern that the progeny of our stallion (apart from being cracking looking horses) are improving with age and definitely possess a will to win.
Earlier on in the day Candy (George Wood) ran a cracker in the nursery at Newbury, finishing second in a competitive race after just getting caught in the last 100 yards, he’ll surely get his head in front soon. The winner of Marco Botti’s was behind Yah Mo Be There in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at the track on his last start which gives our lad a significant form boost.
This week we start today with Lucky Man at Windsor and Oisin Murphy in the saddle. With a difficult draw to overcome it would be great to see this lad bounce back to some of his earlier form.
On Tuesday Pjanoo heads to Kempton also with Oisin on board, the pair were victorious the last time they were together at Wolverhampton in April.
On Wednesday we head to York with Sex on Fire in the valuable Nursery Handicap under Jamie Spencer, a small amount of forecast rain will only enhance his chances.
A busy day on Thursday with us still at York where Midnight City takes his chance in the £500k Goffs Premier Yearling Sales race. He’d have learnt a lot from his Newmarket debut under Rab Havlin who is back on board. Con Te Partiro heads back to Lingfield once again under ‘The Iron Man’ Neil Callan looking to back up his last time out course victory a couple of weeks ago. Thursday evening at Newcastle we could have double representation for Team Ireland in the Racing League with Juicy and Cross The Tracks.
Run Boy Run heads back to Newmarket on Saturday looking to back up his last time out course victory. Two Tribes and The Man will have entries at York.
