“She’s giving me excitations”

Good Good Good (George Boughey) lived up to her name on debut at Yarmouth last Thursday and delivered an eye catching performance under Billy Loughnane for our highlight of the week. Having dwelt at the start she moved effortlessly from last to first in a matter of strides and definitely looks like one to keep an eye on. Owned in partnership with George Hearn and the shrewd Ed Babington I’m delighted she managed to live up to the expectations of the latter! I’m even more delighted that this was the first winner trained by George in my colours – surely the first of many.

This followed another pleasing debut at Wetherby on Tuesday with Warrior’s Dance (George Boughey) finishing third also under Billy Loughnane.

We start this week at Windsor tonight with Composite looking to get his head in front for a third time for George, Ed and I. Foro Romano and Warrior’s Dance also hold entries later in the week.

Back at Sefton Lodge this week is all about Royal Ascot. Confirmed runner and riding plans as follows –

Tuesday – Coventry Stakes – Yah Mo Be There will be ridden by Tom Marquand. Following the typical ‘Jockey Jenga’, usual partner Hollie Doyle has to ride for her principal yard Archie Watson. We’re very fortunate to have secured the services of another fantastic rider and at least they will keep the jockey prize money in the family! Bookmakers appear to make this our best chance of the week and we were given a form boost on Saturday with Asktheboss winning at Chester, previously a 4 lengths fourth place behind us on our only start at York.

Wednesday – Windsor Castle Stakes – Sex On Fire will be ridden by Tom Marquand following a similar story regarding jockey changes as above. Victorious on debut at Southwell and subsequently third behind Enchanting Empress and Rock Hunter on Ascot Trials day. The same two horses filled the same spots in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown on their next start giving us a huge form boost. Of those of ours that have run he would appear to be our biggest outsider of the week but could represent cracking each way value.

Thursday – Norfolk Stakes – The Man will be ridden by Hollie Doyle. Should Sex On Fire feature anywhere close to the winners on Wednesday we will be getting very excited for this runner. The most expensive of our yearling purchases last year and the beneficiary of the best name of this crop (in my opinion) I would love to see this lad avoid any trouble in running and let’s see what he has got!

Friday – Palace of Holyrood House – Two Tribes will be ridden by Jason Hart. ‘Frankie goes to Holyrood’ ….just the one start this year when an eye catching second behind James’s Delight at Newmarket at the Guineas meeting. That form received a significant boost at York last Saturday with the Clive Cox charge winning the three year old Sprint handicap comfortably. We line up on Friday only one pound higher in the handicap that when at HQ.

Saturday – Chesham – Hot Like Me will be ridden by Hollie Doyle. An unraced half sister to Sweet Harmony by Ghaiyyath … will attempt to land the spoils on her first time on a racecourse … ‘Go Big or Go Home!’

Hopefully all make it there in great shape to take their chance, it would be an amazing achievement by Richard Spencer and the team to get five runners from our small string – and all have chances. It would be amazing for one of them to make the frame or could we dream of £1ew Lucky 31?
