Wow! What a performance from Gold Digger at Yarmouth on Wednesday. Held in such high regard from the moment we purchased her she put in the kind of performance that we had dreamt about. The coolest and most confident of rides by Jamie Spencer saw her travel effortlessly from last to first in about 5 strides to win what looked a very hot contest. Next stop will be The Albany on the Friday of Royal Ascot.
Hopefully joining her on the same card at the Royal meeting will be The Man, who following his magnificent victory at York on Friday will be aimed at The Palace of Holyrood House. A perfect ride by David Egan to land the Class 3 handicap by a comfortable 2 ¼ lengths pulling away. This was his first run since a wind operation and leaves me with a sense of vindication as last year I honestly believed this was the fastest horse I’d ever owned.
In addition to these two victories we had a further four second places and some nice introductions from some more of the juvenile team.
This week starts tonight with Your Love at Wolverhampton under George Wood, second on debut 11 days ago let’s hope she can go one better.
Thursday it’s on to Yarmouth with Wild Thoughts, Giant and Con Te Partiro all under the Iron Man Neil Callan.
Although we will be heading up to Haydock on Saturday for the highlight of this week – Candy in the Group 2 Sandy Lane, Twilight Calls in the Group 2 Temple Stakes and Sex on Fire in the £100k Betfred Silver Bowl. Hot Like Me holds an entry at the same venue on Friday.
Later on Saturday Mwaki and Born Slippy hold entries in the 6 furlong maiden at Windsor.
In the meantime we’ll be heading to Bilbao for hopefully another winner …. Come On You Spurs.
