Apologies for being a day late this week as I was in transit back from Ibiza …. And what a day that was with an across the card double!
First up it was Wopbopaloomop scoring in her first handicap outing under Saffie Osborne at Windsor. The half-sister to Candy was our first 2 year old runner earlier in the season and had been off the track for almost four months before making every yard a winning one from stall one. She looks to have a very similar profile to her brother and looks the type to progress for the remainder of the season, especially with some cut in the ground.
The double was completed with another handicap debutant Yazoo at Wolverhampton under a very cool ride from George Wood. Stepped up in trip for his handicap debut, he looks another that could progress and may even reappear later this week.
However, the star performance from last week was the debut win for Etienne at Bath. At odds of 1/25 I would’ve liked to have said it was an enjoyable watch and although a comfortable winner the experience was anything but. Fortunately for us, the jockey (Saffie) was the coolest person at the track and won as she liked. He is / will be the best son of Rajasinghe to date and will most likely reappear in the Middle Park.
We continue today (Tuesday) at Goodwood with Born Slippy and Saffie Osborne who will relish the softer conditions underfoot.
This week is all about Doncaster and The St. Leger festival. Starting on Thursday we look to run two in the ‘Carrie Red’ Fillies’ Nursery, a race we won a few years ago with Stay Classy, coincidentally named after a former occupant of Sefton Lodge and the first female member of the Jockey Club .. The Duchess of Montrose.
Race 2 is the Weatherbys sales race where Zigazig Ah hopes to increase her winnings pot even further after earning over £220k from her 5 starts to date.
Finally Wild Thoughts lines up in race 3 to complete the day’s activities for us.
Friday, Baddaddan and Motown Filly hold entries in the Nursery handicap at Doncaster.
Start Me Up is entered at Chester.
On Saturday Twilight Calls and The Man are entered in The Portland at Doncaster, with the Man also holding an entry back on the track on Sunday, whilst Underdog could head to Chester and Yazoo to either Bath or Lingfield on Saturday.
