… And circa a year for this lad to get his head back in front, but that he did at Chelmsford last Thursday in great style landing a first breeder 1-2 for us with old inmate Giant finishing second (both by Rajasinghe). Another super ride from George Wood and we could see the same combination head back to the same venue this Thursday ahead of next week’s sales.
Before that, this week begins for us on Wednesday with Rockafeller Skank at Newmarket before Enter Sandman and Somebody head to Kempton.
Start Me Up and RightHere RightNow both hold entries at Newbury on Friday, are also entered at Southwell and Doncaster respectively on the same day.
Sex on Fire could head to Doncaster on Saturday.
The Class of ‘26 continue with their preparation at Vicarage Farm and were increased in number by one this week with the acquisition of Candy’s half sister from Tattersalls Book 3. This takes the total acquired to 17, which with our 7 retained homebreds will give us our largest team of two year olds for next season.
Some more positive news received yesterday was that we’d finished 18th in the British Flat Owners Championship which runs from the Qipco Guineas festival in May until Champions Day (last Saturday) and is valued in prize money won. A Top 20 finish (from circa 5000 ownerships) was way beyond expectation, especially from our limited budget/no. of horses, but is a true reflection on how well the team have performed this year – huge thanks to you all.
It’s also satisfying to see a plan come together following a significant change of strategy, much of which having been behind the scenes. Let’s hope we can improve further for next year.
