Highlight of last week was an ‘Away Day’ to Huntingdon. Ten horses and a team of jockeys made the short trip up the A14 for a good blow out and gain some further invaluable track experience on the grass. Huge thanks to all of the lads that came to ride out and special thanks to the team at Huntingdon Racecourse for one of the most enjoyable gallop mornings in a good while. Whilst the weather was perfect the track and facilities were in magnificent condition, maybe a few flat fixtures at the venue should be given some serious consideration.
In terms of racing just the two runners (both of whom have sales entries at the end of the month) ran into placings at Kempton last Wednesday. As expected, our season in the UK has taken it’s time to get going following the allocation of resource during the Dubai Carnival. Whilst we do not anticipate hitting full flow until probably June I feel we will start to turn a corner in the next couple of weeks.
The real start to the flat season starts this week with the Craven meeting at Newmarket getting under way from Tuesday. We have just the one runner there with Kimbara (George Wood) entered for his second start in the Alex Scott Maiden.
On Friday we have our first two year old runner – Wopbopaloomop, a half sister to Candy heads to Bath for the 5 furlong fillies’ maiden. She’ll be joined on the box by Romeo Montague who goes in search of his second victory.
Our week is then completed with Enter Sandman and Tainted Love at Nottingham.
