Another two winners last week from our twelve runners over the three day period Thursday through Saturday.
First up on Friday at Yarmouth was homebred Zigazig Ah winning “cosily” on her second start and in doing so securing a £20k GBB Bonus. It’s always satisfying to see our homebreds victorious and even more so when Richard has trained the family – Rajasinghe x Rebel Surge, who was our first winner when we started this project over ten years ago. She could head to the Weatherby’s Super Sprint where she is set to carry 8st 4lb.
She could be joined in the Sprint by another ‘homebred on a budget’ Etienne who made an eye catching debut at Newmarket on Thursday morning. Competing against more experienced rivals, he failed by just a short head from landing the spoils. A very exciting prospect who would carry just 8st 8lb should he take up his intended engagement at Newbury on the 18th July.
Start Me Up was our second winner of the week on Saturday afternoon at Chester when landing back to back victories at the track and also a £35k pot. A magnificent ride by George Wood and total vindication for the trainer who persisted with his belief that the horse would improve for the bend despite things not going to plan for him in Meydan.
This closed out a massive June for the team with a record 11 victories in the month from just 38 runners (29% strike rate) , with 22 of the 38 (58%) finishing in the three.
We hope this amazing run of form can continue through July as we start this week on Thursday at Kempton with Yazoo.
Most other plans for the week are up in the air as we speak … We may see another 2 year old debutant Can’t Stop who holds multiple entries.
Underdog and Gold Digger could head to Sandown or even Deauville, and Poison Arrow to Leicester or Nottingham.
