A fantastic performance on Saturday by Candy in the Listed Two-Year-Old Trophy up at Redcar gave us our second stakes winner of the year. A magnificent ride by George Wood who, after starting quickly, won going away despite being headed in the final furlong. This will more than likely be his last run for the year and will be put away ahead of some exciting plans for next season.
I cannot thank Richard Spencer and the whole of the team at Rebel Racing enough, including Megan and Adam Kirby and the team at Vicarage Farm for their pre-training work – these are the days that we live for.
Also, Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock for his assistance in selecting this group of individuals – of the 6 of this project to have run so far, 5 (83%) have won (including 2 at stakes level; 33%) a total of 7 races from 27 runs (26% strike rate). We are also excited as we still have a further 6 colts to run plus a number of homebreds …… I love it when a plan comes together!
This followed a further Black Type performance by Naomi Lapaglia (Dan Muscutt) at Saint-Cloud on Friday in the Listed Prix Dahlia. She has now been placed in all bar one of her six starts at this level this year and surely things will fall her way and she will land one soon.
Another fairly quiet week ahead of us with tentative entries for Aidan Andabettin at Wolverhampton on Thursday, Revich at York on Friday. More likely runners will be Two Tribes at York and Fools Gold at Chelmsford on Saturday, along with Revich at Goodwood on Sunday.
