“Heartache to Heartache ……”

A fun but tough week at Royal Ascot, but to tell the truth disappointing not to have visited the winners’ enclosure. Our main hope Gold Digger missed the break and didn’t see out the last 1/2 furlong, She remains a filly with a big career ahead of her. Yah Mo Be There, drawn in the centre elected to break left and follow the likely pace and ‘better’ horses, only for those drawn low to dictate the pace and go 5 lengths clear at the furlong marker and never be pulled back. Despite winning our side, it remains one of those races where we will always rue what might have been. However, 6 runners at the “Royal” meeting is an achievement to be proud of and I cannot praise our team highly enough.

This week starts today at Wolverhampton; First up is I Follow Rivers, already a course winner this season over 7 furlongs he lines up for the amateur handicap over 1 mile 1/2 furlong under Eireann Cagney.

Next we run Con Te Partiro , a two-time course and distance winner last season under today’s pilot Hollie Doyle albeit then in a grade and a few pounds lower than today’s contest.

Finally, Alive Again makes his second start, once again in a 7 furlongs restricted maiden under George Wood.

On Wednesday we roll on to Kempton with Atmosphere in the Apprentice Handicap and a first ride for us from Jack Callan. Previously ridden by Dad Neil on debut earlier in the year, it would be great to see Jack finish a few places better.

We round off the week on Thursday at one of our favourite tracks, the Newmarket July Course, for the first time this season. Attending a celebration of 25 years of trading with one of my longest and largest supporting brokers, Citynet, we’ll be trying very hard to secure a winner in front of most of the London Motor Insurance Market.
First up in the 2 year old novice is Romeo Montague under Ryan Moore, having only his second start. Following this we have Two Tribes under William Buick in the 7 furlong handicap that was his back up plan after having been balloted out of The Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
