“Happy Retirement Bernardo”

This week we made the decision to retire stable stalwart Bernardo O’Reilly seven years to the day of his debut victory at Lingfield Park. Bought for only £10k at the DBS Premier Yearling Sales he won 7 of his 56 races giving all of those involved great enjoyment. He’ll see out the remainder of his days at my farm in Six Mile Bottom.

Richard and the team at Sefton opened up last week with a first victory for the fantastically named Come On You Spurs, I’m absolutely delighted for the owners.

We then moved on to Newmarket for the July Festival. Despite no winners there were some notable performances with 4 out of my 5 runners finishing in the money. Run Boy Run and Good Good Good (George Boughey) picked up a couple of second places, Waiting All Night and Two Tribes both finishing fourth and losing out in photographs for third.

This week starts for us on Wednesday with I Follow Rivers and The Last Time heading to Yarmouth and Warrior’s Dance (George Boughey) to Thirsk.

Yah Mo Be there looks to get back on track at Newbury on Friday in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes.

Wide Margin, Waiting All Night, Run Boy Run all hold entries at Newmarket at the weekend.

There are also various entries for Wonderwall and Roll With It prior to both of them heading to the Doncaster sales.
