The Dubai Carnival steps up a gear this week with an exciting All Group race card.
We hope to have double representation first up with The Man set to make his Meydan debut in the Group 2 Blue Point Sprint over 5 furlongs. Rain stopped play for him on his intended first start before Christmas however he has been training well but will need to find a good few pounds’ improvement to step up to this level. Fingers crossed for a middle draw.
Next up is Nightwalker in the Group 3 Al Khail Trophy over 1m 6 furlongs. A gutsy front running attempt on his Rebel debut a couple of weeks ago over course and distance, we are confident that he will have come on for that performance.
Last weeks Meydan runners all performed with credit from terrible draws. Hawksbill drawn 14 of 14 had no alternative but to drop out last but showed eye catching ability to run into 5th place , first home of those drawn higher than 7!
RightHere RightNow (also 14 of 14) and Run Boy Run (across the opposite side 2 of 14) both ran respectable races to finish 4th and 6th respectively, the middle is definitely looking to be the place to be drawn on the sprint track.
Back home we had just the two runners, both up at Newcastle on Tuesday, Teardrops ran a cracker under George Wood to get us off the mark for the season and make it 3 wins from his last 4 starts all over course and distance. He heads back there on Tuesday.
Somebody made a bold front running attempt stepped up to 7 furlongs and held on for third place. He will have an entry back at 6 furlongs at Lingfield on Saturday along with Mwaki.
However this week starts today at Kempton with Shallow and Your Love going head to head in the fillies’ handicap over 6 furlongs.
Elsewhere Shotgun Rider ran into another second place on only his second start for Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies, he’s surely a winner waiting to happen.
