What a day on Saturday. A first, fourth and fifth place from three runners in The Stewards Cup at Glorious Goodwood. A phenomenal training performance by Richard Spencer, 3 cracking rides from our team of jockeys and huge thanks to all at Team Rebel who made this all possible.
Twilight Calls put in his best performance to date under a peach of a ride from Saffie Osborne. With the other two runners set to come up the stands rail, we elected to try our luck far side from gate 11; skipping clear at the furlong pole, the old boy won his race comfortably and it will forever remain an unknown what the outcome would’ve been if drawn higher.
Three quarters of a length in front in fourth place was Run Boy Run under his customary ride by George Wood. Showing tremendous gate speed from stall 19 he was soon leading the near side group ahead of the rapid Get It. He was closely tracked by our eventual winner Two Tribes who received the perfect ride from David Egan to complete back-to-back Heritage handicap victories in the space of a week – unbelievable. Celebrations continued back in Newmarket until the early hours and we’d like to thank all who have sent messages – it really does mean a lot.
This was also a Stewards Cup first and fourth for our stallion Rajasinghe, who capped off a great weekend with Alive Again winning at Yarmouth. Stepped up in trip for his handicap debut and the ‘rag’ in this six runner field he made every yard a winning one under another well-judged ride from Saffie Osborne.
A fairly quiet week by comparison as we tick over in between our next targeted festival at York for The Ebor.
First up, Mwaki heads to Yarmouth (George Wood) for the 5 furlong Nursery on Wednesday.
Thursday sees Paint The Town Red at Chelmsford in the fillies’ One Mile handicap.
RightHere RightNow holds an entry in The Shergar Cup at Ascot on Saturday but also at Newmarket along with Waiting All Night. You Sexy Thing and Born Slippy both hold entries in the 7 furlong Nursery handicap also at Newmarket.
